Delivery confirmation is a joke. Signature confirmation is more secure and
a whopping $1.50? Better than giving UPS $30 because the people who work
for them do the UPS stomp (step on packages to see what is in them). UPS is
now giving people are hard time trying to ship guns, has been that way for a
while where I live. I had one digbat broad tell me that they do not ship
guns, one of my friends, they refused to accept his gun, and I had them
refuse to ship an antique for me. They violate they tariff regularly.

We have a UPS drop-off at my work. We haven't had any problems with
packages going missing. So far, none have been addressed to anything
that would indicate a firearm may be in the package either. That might
tend to tempt a less than honest package handler more, no?

Federal Express delivers to my front door and rings the bell before driving
off. DHL delivers to my front door and rings the bell before driving off.
UPS tosses the box in my driveway. I discover the package the next day
perhaps (who knows when it was delivered) when I enter the attached garage,
get in my car, push the door opener and back out over the package before
seeing it. (Are people supposed to open their garage doors and police the
driveway before driving out in case UPS may have delivered a package that
day (or night before)? I send a polite e-mail to customer service, then a
second one, and never get a reply. I wind up having to replace my order
with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. I guess I have to accept I will
be sent things from vendors using UPS, but I am making sure I do not send
anything using UPS, and I have asked family and friends to not send things
to me using UPS. I once ordered an engraved piece of jewelry for my
daughter's Ph.D. ceremony. It apparently never arrived so I had to reorder
it. When I called UPS on it, the driver came to my house and found it
INSIDE my garage near the back door into the mudroom, in back of some trash
cans (it was a box maybe 1x1x4 inches in size) where he put is since my door
was open when he delivered. What the hell was the guy doing inside my
garage when I am working out back, and how was I supposed to find something
that size among trash?

Dear UPS lover, I suggest you look again instead of ASSuming. It does take
twice as long and cost twice as much. You in love with the the owner too?
Do the research. Ask UPS if they can ship 70 pounds in 2-3 days for $8.95.
UPS ground takes SEVEN working days.
As for the hiring of thieves issue, no doubt a few bad

Yeah, that is why they went to overnight for shipping handguns. Where have
you been?
You read about it several times a

OK. Again, that is why they do not ship handguns ground, so it must have
been more than several times a year. Nothing I said was BS. Check yourself
before you mess yourself.

Preloaded by the 8 buck an hour college students who do not get benefits but
still have to pay dues to the mighty union. Don't you know they are for the
working man? They are for themselves. They have no problem with UPS
abusing people as long as they get their union dues. That's the deal the
union made with UPS.
I've had UPS come to my home at 7pm to deliver

On a weekday? That is normal. They deliver late to residences because they
use their time to deliver to businesses while they are open during the day.

UPS, USPS, and FedEx all ring my doorbell when they deliver packages.
Then they set it down directly in front of the door and walk away. I
guess it depends on the driver or the district.

# # #I have a friend who's dad passed away in NY. His sister is holding the

# # Simplest way to ship would be to find a FFL locally that would do it

Mine charges $5.00 for packing it and documenting, USPS flat rate carton
$8.90 or so at the PO. Mail the shipping receipt back to the FFL (He
provides SASE)

..... I have the same problem but my guns are in Europe and I live in
California (could I make it worse? , and since these family
heirloom,in particular the Sauer 38H I was asking about in another
thread, have probably never been registered officially anywhere since
acquired, I might be in a bit of a pickle now that I think about it...

Sylvain,
FYI:
No matter how often the anti's repeat their propaganda, as yet there is no
such thing as gun registration in the US.
"Assault Weapons" in some states may fall into trouble.
As to importing guns from Europe. What you need is an import permit.
http://www.atf.treas.gov/regulations/27cfr47.pdf
I suggest you find an importer in your area. Call your local ATF office.
They should be able to put you in contact with one.

Actually, any FFL can do an Import with a Form 6. Form 6 is designed for
the occasional use situation by an FFL.
I have used this once for a piece from Canada.
