Something to the effect of "If you want to vote for Obama please deposit you
guns here" with an arrow pointing down to the trash can.

They also have a sign saying that on July 1, the CCW will not allow you to
forego the brady check. What is the deal?

On 6153/08 I posted a message on the topic, on 6/3/08 I received a message
from Dolores explaining what happened. Here is the text:
Also I have bad news for all you CCW holders. After July 1st you cannot
used your exemption, as a CCW holder to purchase a firearm without the
$25.00 background check fee. It seems when the bill got defeated on the
price going up for getting a CCW, an add on, was on that bill for the
exemption to continue. This was not voted on. So until a new bill is
drafted, you will have to pay the $25.00 fee or buy quick all the guns you
plan to buy before July 1st. This is a state problem and not a federal
problem.

Afraid it's true. Take a look in this newsgroup back on 15 June. You were
part of the big discussion under the heading "Nevada CCW exemption".

I was just at the store today buying myself a late birthday present.
Some foreign tourist was taking a picture of the sign.

Here is a link to the Nevada Department of Public Safety explanaton of the
process: http://www.nvrepository.state.nv.us/special/pos.shtml .
Interesting reading: "In order to fund the POS Program, a $25.00 fee is
assessed for each background check performed. It is highly recommended that
prior to contacting the POS Program for a background check that the FFL
collects from the potential purchaser the $25.00 fee. This fee will be
assessed whether a 'proceed' or a denial' is granted for the transfer of a
firearm. Additionally, once the licensee has made the background check
request to the POS Program the fee is non-refundable even if the potential
purchaser or FFL decides to cancel the firearm transaction."
Didn't this topic come up lately

The Supreme Court is about to tell us what kind of gun rights we have.
I'm betting they come down on the side of personal rights and states
rights, which will back the feds out of the gun control business and
leave the issue in local hands, which is where it belongs.
I hear you can't carry a sword in Texas. That seems weird to me, but
it's up to the Texans.
Militias were always provided by the states, and each state gets to
define its militia. My state has two, the National Guard, which is the
Organized Militia, and every able-bodied man over the age of 18, which
is the Unorganized Militia.
In any case, we can expect the Supremes to rule well before the
election, so we will know in advance how important the gun control issue
will be.
