The bottom one appears to contain claw marks. Based on that I'd guess

The mud looks fresh. Did you get a look at what created it?

What do you think of these tracks, cat or dog?
http://buggytexas.com/images/tracks.jpg
My guess would be dog. I think a cat would have more claw impressions into
the mud. |

The claw marks say that is a dog, unless the cat was running.
Also, the two front toes look to be lined up with each other which is
usually another sign that is a dog. |

Why would a cat leave more claw impressions? All cats, except
cheetahs, have retractable claws and generally don't walk with them
out. I think it's fair to assume that these tracks are from a
walking, vs running, animal because they aren't smeared and are close
together.
My vote is for dog.

While I can't tell for sure in the photo whether it's Canine or Feline, the
lack of claw impressions would point more to a Feline. Cat claws are
retracted in a "normal" state, while a Canine's claws are always "out
there".

I say dog due to the claw marks. Tracks spread out pretty big in the snow
or mud. My hunting partner swore a bear followed us into the woods one day
(saw tracks on the way back out). I let him think that for a while, and
then pointed out that they were his heel marks sliding in the mud. It did
look like a pad with 5 claws, I guess.

Probably a dog, based on the length of the toes - but your guess is
based on a poor premise. Any Boy Scout will tell you that cat tracks do
not normally show claw marks - they keep them retracted when walking to
protect them and keep them sharp - even in mud. Dogs cannot retract
their claws and normally show in a track |

Cat of some sort. Too small for cougar. It's about the right size for
a bobcat though.
The mud looks fresh. Did you get a look at what created it?
Didn't see it but I came very close, I believe. I had ridden my mountain
bike up to this particular stretch of road last May to see if it was
passable yet after a wet spring. There was a doe limping away on the other
side of the barbed wire fence. At first I figured it had gotten tangled in
the fence, but thought it odd it was bleeding from the top side of one hind
quarter.
A few feet further down the road I came to the wet weather seep and found
the tracks. Putting two and two together, I got a bad feeling and
high-tailed it out of there back to camp for a gun, camera, and a buddy.
The tracks were spaced out as if on a run through the mud. I noticed not all
the tracks had claw marks and later read that cats usually retract their
claws when running. I have taken a couple very large bobcats off this
Central Texas ranch but their paws weren't any larger than the front paw in
the photo. If it is a bobcat I gotta see this!

It's extremely rare that I go out into the woods/wilds without carrying
a gun. You just never know.

I would also guess dog or something in the canine family.
Would also guess it's a fairly large one.
