Hi
I wonder if anyone can help to identify what type of table this is...
http://www.20xx20.myby.co.uk/photos.html
The images are in high resolution format so that you zoom in on the table ie
once each pic has down loaded you'll notice your cursor will look like a
magnifier lens meaning you click on the pic and it will enlarge the pic two
fold.

The description of the table is...

Lenght54" Wide17" Height27.5"
As you will see it needs some TLC to the Veneering but basically its in good
condition.
Construction wise it well made and held together with four small coach bolts
and various screws.
Coach bolts are situated in four inner corners.
The glass panel is beveled at the edges and does contain surface scratches
which are only noticable if you look at the glass side on.

I'm guessing this is between 1930 to 1950 hardly antique area I know but I'm
trying to get a period it was made?

Comments I've had are...
An office board room side table pre 1930's?
A side table designed specifically for a large Victorian house's hallway?
A church rectorys hallway?
A table that was used in a large house whereby it was placed behind a settee
in the middle of the room?

I would appreciate any info as to what date you think this is or a specific
name for this type of table?

Many thanks for any input.

.....1970's-80's "sofa table" .....faux pecan factory finish. Typically
placed behind your sofa.- Hide quoted text -

If it were mine, I'd put it on the curb for the trash-day treasure
hunters. I don't think it's worth redoing the veneer, although I've
certainly been wrong before. Maybe that it's just not my style ....

Just put it in the hallway and put some plants on it. It'll be fine.

Oh dear that bad. :-)

I'd think it it'll look ok in the hallway of a large Victorian house, place a
nice vase with plant in the center of it and a telephone and maybe picture
of aunty wainright on it. :-)

Ok maybe I'll get the chopper out?

Strip it down and paint it a trendy color (off-white, for instance).
You can't hurt the thing, and it'll be cheaper than trying to redo it.

Kris-

Spray it gold and put a lace table runner on it.

Or maybe white with gold spray accents....to bring out the
1960s-ish of it all?

Er! I never liked Danny La Rue when he was alive...certainly not going to
implement his tacky decor here.

Thanks for any input good or bad. :-)

Now that I know its date I've decided to either chop it up for firewood or
spend some time on stripping it down to the wood and paint it with a marble
effect to see what it looks like in that style of painting?

The end appearence will then have a coating of "Mother of Pearl" to protect
the paint.

What say the panel about this?

Again many thanks for your attention.
