Is article, about L&S getting the "Powerpuff Girls Z" treatment, for
real?

Well, the article *is* from the AP, so we might safely assume it's
reliable.

I don't see anything on the Disney news releases page.

And the choice of character-property doesn't surprise me. When I was
in Japan this past summer for the Worldcon, I saw Stitch-based
merchandise all over the place. (Just Stitch: not Lilo, Nani, Jumbaa,
etc.) E.g., there was a full-size decapitated Stitch head pillow in a
UFO-catcher machine in Kobe. (Well, not decapitated, just...
unbodied.)

AstroNerdBoy: can you corroborate?

I really wish I'd taken more photos, because I can't recall how big
the machine's *chute* was so that the toy could be *dispensed*.
(Shopping mall guards tend to object when you take photos on their
grounds. In the U.S., anyway; makes a person habitually nervous,
after a while. On most occasions in Japan, I didn't try to find
anyone to ask.)

FWIW, I saw a lot of Stitch toys in Akiba, along with tons of various
mouse-related Disney stuff. Now that I think of it, I vaguely recall
a few Stitch pillows in a display case at this one store. I kind of
brushed over them, since I wasn't really interested in buying US
cultural goods in Japan...

I managed to get a picture of a life-sized Rei Ayanami figure and
a 1:10? scale Gamera, before I saw the signs that said "no
photographs"...
