I checked out the photos, too, and they are very nice indeed. Both
the red-shouldered hawk photos and the other photos of birds of prey.
Many years ago, I assisted an individual with a federal bird banding
license in banding red-shouldered hawk chicks in the Lake Sherwood
area of southern California. It meant climbing up into a very tall
Sycamore and lowering each chick to the ground in a padded basket,
there to be measured and banded and lifted back up.
The view from the nest was magnificent and the experience was too.
All four of the chicks successfully fledged and the adults used the
same nest the following year. It overlooked the lake. WillD

Greeeat shots, Dan! I live in the wildfire area that San Diego County
endured last October. I have several red-tailed hawks in my area. Last
year, we had one red-shouldered hawk swoop from it's perch right over
our house. It was great to see! Thanks again for the photos!
By the way, what type of camera did you use? Lens?

All the chicks have fledged. The parents still will feed them for a few
weeks as they learn to hunt for themselves.
