The preface notes that this book is intended to address the
requirements of the security professional, rather than those
interested in the technical details of closed circuit television
systems. Chapter one looks at the purposes for which cameras can be
used in various industries and settings. Requirements are addressed
in chapter two, but primarily in terms of the volume of equipment
needed. Elements of the monitoring and playback area are in chapter
three. Chapter four deals with camera specifications and features.
Control equipment is outlined in chapter five. Chapter six looks at
recording and storage systems. Various means of reducing the storage
and review needs, and triggering or directing recording to important
events, are addressed in chapter seven. Chapter eight discusses
covert and hidden cameras. Cabling and other communications systems
are dealt with in chapter nine. Considerations of outdoor
installations are in chapter ten. A case study of a particular
application and the process of determining and fulfilling the
requirements is presented in chapter eleven.
A decent review of a specialty topic, accessible by anyone concerned
about it.
