So I guess this duo instead of Landon-Ching? Seems like it. At least
for now.
USA ADVANCE TO THE FINAL ROUND OF WC QUALIFIERS! Yay.
Landon played AM (see how much better our offense flows without Claudio
"holding" the ball)
the "duo" was McBride/Wolff (Johnson)
The future "duo" is Buddle/Johnson with Ching/Wolff subs, IMO.
Can this be the end of the Conor Casey experiment?????

90' United States [6 - 0] Panama
22' [1 - 0] L. Donovan
57' [2 - 0] L. Donovan
71' [3 - 0] Johnson
And two more by Johnson which Livescore aren't showing, argh!!
(PLUS ONE MORE, making it 6-0 to the US, and they've just announced
stoppage time of 3. Come on, where's the mercy?]
Quickie MR: Wow, this is the best I've seen the US in a long time.
They look like they're clicking on all cylinders, and from what I've
heard of in the ES thread, both of these matches are confidence
boosters of the highest level for the USA. Eddie Lewis! What did he
eat today! He and Carlos Bocanegra -- wowie. And a 6th! A bender from
Landon, and it seems that's it an own goal. :)
[Note, a future stud named Okwuchi...didn't catch his name, but
obviously of Nigerian origin by his name, earned his first
international cap for the US. I know I am not a habitué of Big
Soccer's forums, but am I the only person to have first heard of this
chap today?] |

Oof, there goes Panama's goal differential. Jamaica's got to be happy to
see that -- and no goals for Panama at all (I really didn't see many chances
either).

Forever. Except for the Reds and some other team that they could play

No...I would just rather have my eyes cut out by by a rusty, dull, spork
than watch a baseball game.
I only like the Reds because I grew up in a baseball loving family, so
it is in my blood. I have signed up for a transfusion though, because I
can not stand that game.

I was going to say, since in that now infamous Brazilians 69 French 65
thread, I don't recall anyone having mentioned his name as one of the
5 (wasn't it?) Americans in CL teams.
And watching this marks my first US match since...gosh, I can't
recall. I think since USA v. Poland earlier this year. |

First tiebreaker is head to head which Panama wins having beaten Jamaica and
drawn with them. Goal differential won't come into play in this group.

Taking my kid to daycare I walked a block behind 2 high schoolers talking
about the baseball playoffs the whole time. As they turned into school and
I walked past one said to the other "I can't wait 'til basketball starts so
I don't have to watch anymore of this crappy baseball -- it's so boring!"

Actually, I think the Buddle/Johnson combo was mentioned as part of in
my 5 man "dream team" forward line.
My "dream team" would involve a 3-2-5 formation, Buddle would be the
center forward and Johnson would be the right wing (with Twellman and
Donovan as insight right and left respectively). |
