Where to buy suet?...

I like feeding the commercially available suet cakes since I have no ability
or desire to make my own. I try to buy enough locally in the fall when I
find a sale to last all winter. But, I don't always make it through the
winter and sometimes have to buy more. I've never found any online to come
close to matching the sale price. I understand that the stores may be using
them as loss-leaders so it doesn't surprise me that I can't find them at
~$.50 a cake but I am surprised that I can't find them online at less or
equal to than the normal store price of ~$1.00 per cake.

It almost seems suet is like oil--something's keeping the price up other
than the market. Is there a suet cartel like OPEC? B-)

I have had good luck at http://www.nottawawildbirdsupply.com/

But, never have seen suet cakes for $0.50--even on sale they run about
65 to 80 cents each. I have taken to making my own because it is quick
and easy and flexible--you can make cakes, stuff logs or crumble it up :)

Commercial suet is garbage. And you say that garbage is too high priced?
