Let's see,

Last Wednesday, ultrasound revealed heartbeats on the approx. 30 day
embryos of Titania and Gossamer!!!! (Titania is in foal to my
stallion, AAA Legend ofthe Seas, and Gossamer is in foal to Aul
Magic) Ultrasound also revealed that Amira Farah was still open after
round two of breeding. Sad An answering machine glitch meant that
the planned collection was not confirmed on Friday morning, so of
course she ovulated over the weekend. Now we have to wait for the next
cycle for round three. I'll short cycle her and try a third time. If
she is still open after that I will reassess.

Meanwhile, I had to go out of town on business so my husband, Thom,
had to stay home to foal out the last of the three mares who were bred
last year. He may be the best husband on the planet, 'cuz the farm is
*my* thing; he's a computer programmer. But, he does love the horses
and he *offered* to stay with Callisto and monitor the foaling. He's
attended 7 foalings with me, but this was a huge burden for him to
take on. On Friday at 3:35 pm, following a gestation that was roughly
a week longer than usual for her, in the middle of a violent
thunderstorm, Callisto foaled a *huge* chestnut filly. (Callisto is
14.2H, the filly weight taped at 100 pounds! The average Arabian foal
is said to be 80-85 pounds.) Fortunately, the birth was quick and
went smoothly. Mare and foal are doing well. My DH is priceless by
any measure.

(The neonate photos were taken by my dear Thom; he remembered to do
that too!!! Today the filly got a bit of turn-out before another storm
front rolled in so I snapped a few shots.)

Dawn-

That filly is a *keeper*. I mean it...don't let anyone *ever* talk you
out of her...she is absolutely spectacular.

Congrats!

The Dancing is suffering on the fertility side only because there's
too many sick and injured being danced for!! (Yourself included...)

Yeah, I am so darn tired of being tired!! A dose adjustment will no
doubt be made when my thyroid levels are rechecked next week. I
*really* miss riding, but I can't risk it with sluggish reflexes. The
last time I sat on one of my mares just to try a saddle, my body felt
so weird because my reflexes were so slowwww.

Glad the others settled and haven't checked the photos, but congrats
on the new addition.

Thanks Smile I am so happy that I have three healthy foals. I hope
all the births next year go as smoothly. I have the two mares in foal,
the other mare to try for a third cycle, and one of the dams who just
foaled to breed back --so I am hoping for 4 foals next year. I am also
hoping to finally have some for sale soon. ;-)

Thanks, Sharon. I am quite pleased with her. I am excited to see how
she matures. I am also generally quite encouraged by this initial
"test" foal crop for my stallion. I think he did well in passing on
the traits I'd hoped he would. :-)
