Despite the whole dayglo, thizz, furly dance wyle out party aesthetic,
mall drops some science on the US Open record, as evidenced in the
quote from his opening verse on cuddies say "yee" in the subject. The
next line in it might be even better "youngsters have king kong on
they back before they grow old". Or as dre sums it up in his opening
line "man, it's a ruff life". Arguably as deep on the topic of the
bad parts of hood life as Ro's city streets (peep mac mall dropping
the cautionary line about smoking weed being bad for you), but it's
not spoonfed, it's in between the lines for the most part, and comes
across as more real talk than down talk.
I Love Dro is the most official weed anthem ever. I mean the only way
these dudes could be spitting more real shit about the weed game is if
they mentioned scissor hash, or farming in humboldt. It's a wrap for
all other weed songs the minute yuk mentions train wreck and catpiss.
His second verse isn't as strong, but the back to back half baked
references are clever. Bun kills his verse breaking down all the
bullshit cats try to pass off as killer on the streets. |
