The only real problem for ManU now appears to be that this shithead's
conduct has cost him probably -- what? -- 20 million pounds or more?

Well Ronaldo is currently the best player in the world and with that
comes big money.

United have to find the best part of £30m to buy Tevez this season so it
stands to reason that with the club in debt to the tune of £650m they
will cash in on their biggest asset.

The Glazers are business men after all who are looking on a quick return
on their investment.

Well Ronaldo is currently the best player in the world

Come off it.

He has been found wanting time and again when he has played at the top
level.

He looks good with his fancy tricks when he is up against Premier
League defenders but he doesn't seem able to step up another level and
in big games is pretty anonymous.

Lol didn't you see you his goal in the CL Final ? However I do suppose
in your eyes that is not quite playing at the highest level.

Paul C said premier level defenders. You may have missed it, but
Manchester was playing Chelsea in the CL final - a premier level team.

He may have been wanting to say Internationally, but you've been told
that before and today sort of re-inforced that C.Ron tends to go
missing, somewhat, in big tournament games.

course as the EPL is currently the best domestic competition in the
world, the fact that he top scored counts for nothing ?

There are four teams, that are strong because of their foreign
content, but the entry level teams of hack defenders is where C.Ron
accumulates most of his points.

If he is not the best player in the world why is RM busting a gut to
get him ?

Because he's very good. Do RM only buy best players in the world? I
guess they have 23 best players in the world. which of them is the
best player in the world, or are they all best players in the world?

So how how come two "Premier level" teams made it to the CL final ?
Shall I answer that for you ?

The EPL has at most 4 good teams. The rest is very ordinary at best.
This is illustrated by the fact that the same 4 qualify for the ECL
year in year out. Below these are approximately 5 fairly decent teams
and 11 makeweights.

Only those who believe the hype of $ky could possibly imagine that
it's the best league in the world/Europe/the universe/whatever.

Ronaldo makes a fool of many defenders in the EPL and he is great to
watch. If he joins RM it will be a loss to the EPL.

At the top level, however, he is anonymous and those who go on about
him being the best player in the world are spouting nonsense.

Strange then that many of players around the world, EPL or otherwise
would disagree with you.

I don't agree with your assessment of the EPL. Without doubt there are
4 dominant clubs, they would dominate most Leagues as shown by their
recent performances in the CL. The other clubs are made to look
ordinary by the the top four. The fact that the 3 promoted teams each
tend to struggle to stay up indicates how strong the PL is

Well I suppose Paul that every domestic competition has their very own
Derby, Sunderland, Bolton and Reading etc etc However not so in terms
of having 3 clubs reach the semi-finals of the CL.

The top three leagues have 8 teams in European competitions.  The UEFA
rankings are based on the results from all eight teams and the EPL was
easily the strongest league last year.  This is not so new because
their number one ranking is from games played over the last five
years.  A couple of good teams is not going to get you to the top of
the UEFA league rankings.  If the top eight teams in the EPL are
better than the top eight teams in all the other leagues, I don't see
any reason to think that somehow the EPL bottom eight are not that
good.

So you are agreeing with me ?

MAkes you wonder how the English clubs went out so early then if it's
such a strong league.

Because they care a lot more about where they are in the EPL than they
do about the UEFA Cup. Just look at the teams that they put out for UEFA
games, compared to their regular EPL lineups.

Got it?

So there is absolutely no evidence to support the claim that the EPL
is the strongest league in the world since clubs below the top 4 will
not compete with those of other national leagues.

I see.

With the exception of a couple of other leagues, the UEFA Cup entries
from the EPL play teams closer to the top of their league. And probably
teams that give it higher priority, given that survival in their
domestic league is easier than in the EPL.

Which will be why Spain, Italy and Germany do much better in the UEFA
Cup.

Do they?

Assuming we take your ridiculous assumption that winning the UEFA Cup
is the most important thing around, let's examine your claim.

No Italian club has won the UEFA Cup since 1999, and no German club
has won it since 1997. No English club has won it since 2001.

But how about answering a question for once?
Why does looking at who won the UEFA Cup in, say 1999, have any
bearing on which country has the strongest league?

Surely the country with the strongest league would be producing the
best results in Europe around now

Hang on, that can't be right.

It isn't, but no surprises there.

Lol I am waiting for Paul to declare that Scotland has the strongest
League in the world due it's small population !
