The next installment in the [United States of] American Heraldry
Society's series on presidential [of the United States] arms is now
available at
<http://www.heraldrysociety.us/presidents/index.php?page=Roosevelt>.
It covers the arms of Presidents Theodore and Franklin Delano
Roosevelt.
Next up in the queue: Bill Clinton's CHI-granted arms.

A wonderful account. What is striking from my perspective is the lavish use
of heraldry or armorial allusions in everyday life as well as in the context
of special events. Both the assumption of arms and their subsequent wide use
could serve as a model for many US families, not only presidential ones. Now
that we have another presidency in the same family (this time father-son) it
is unfortunate that there isn't a similar tradition of the use of arms
(there is a different family tradition regarding the use of arms abroad that
has been set but I'm not referring to that one).
Kind regards, George Lucki |

George, does your statement pertain to Presidents Bush or have I
inferred incorrectly? Would you please expand upon your statement or
offer a website that I can visit to better understand the tradition?
If your statement refers, instead, to another's family tradition, I am
still interested in learning about that as well.

I think George's comment about President Bush's use of arms abroad
referred to the use of military arms (by both Bushes, against Iraq)
rather than heraldic ones. |

Sheesh! You'd think that after 20 years military service I would have
cottoned on to that allusion! Thanks for waking me up.
