Just when you think you've got it all figured out.....

I took my blades out yesterday -- Joe Powell forged 'butterknife' model,
with standard weight Dynamic shafts tipped to just a snick below
standard S flex -- to work on some long-iron ball-striking at the range
over at Blackthorn. The range is delicious, with bent grass tees,
cross-mown fairways, and real greens.

Working on my release, I began to drill great shot after great shot.

I get home for lunch and grab the rest of my bag. Call Kenny, we're
playing 18 at twilight at Blackthorn. I played well (except for the 5
over on the last three holes due to cold/darkness/hurrying), firing an
84 from the green (blue) tees. I hit the blades beautifully.

FF to today. Nine holes over at Beechwood after work, from the blues,
son # 2 in tow. Kenny played too. I managed a very solid 38 with a
double and an eagle.

What Project X shafts? Which Golfsmith heads?

Doc, is golf s'posed to be this nutzo!?!?

With the release drill I'm working on, I'm tempted to slap a shaft on
that dusty 2-iron blade head and give her a whirl.

Hell, get a 1-iron. When the swing is good you can hit anything. I figure
it's payback from all those times I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn
with any club...

This admittedly falls into the 'you had to be there' category, but it's
a great feeling when the shots are going where you want them too 90% of
the time. Even if it's temporary.
