The Beach being our big ring where, in general, the footing is too deep and
doesn't give Hoover the grip he prefers - see earlier thread re Footing.
Today we cantered on the beach ... albeit only on the left lead, only away
from the gate, on the only stretch of really firm footing out there but I'm
happy anyway.
Later today, back in the round pen, I got him set up to my taste, slid my
outside leg back to signal canter, and felt him squat for the depart. To the
right, his non-preferred lead. Very cool!
