(There is, at any rate, one book ABOUT him - "Brother Blue: A
Narrative Portrait of Brother Blue A.K.A. Dr. Hugh Morgan Hill" by
Warren Lehrer, 1995.)

I knew him well, ever since I was very small.

A Ph.D. from Harvard, you could always spot him in a crowd - mainly
because of his blue clothes, but also his butterfly pins.

I knew he was over 80 (he was a first lieutenant in WWII), but not
that he was THAT old.......

Oddly, even though the Boston Globe released its obit 13 hours ago,
there was nothing about it on this morning's local TV news! (Then
again, I don't get cable - maybe it was on CCTV.)

From one:

BOSTON — The City of Cambridge lost an icon this week: a master
storyteller known as Brother Blue.

If you’ve spent time in Harvard Square in the past three decades or
so, you’ve probably seen Brother Blue, with a crowd gathered around,
telling stories. He stood out of the urban environment in his
signature bright blue ensembles.

Brother Blue also told stories in classrooms and jailhouses — anywhere
he could find an audience................

From the Boston Globe:

He called himself Brother Blue, but he was perhaps best known for his
passionate, uplifting storytelling, sensitive ear and mentoring of
other raconteurs throughout Boston and Cambridge.

Hugh Morgan Hill, an internationally renowned performance artist and
unofficial storyteller of both Cambridge and Boston, died in his
Cambridge home after a brief illness on Tuesday. He was 88.

“He believed deeply in the medium of storytelling because it brought
people together, and he was delighted to be around others who liked to
tell stories,” said Jay O’Callahan, a storyteller from
Marshfield................
