Who does K545 well? Who makes a really interesting job of it?
I just listened to a couple, both not entirely satisfactory.
Richter on Philips (at the Barbican). Very nice but I could do with a
bit more involvement.
Arrau (studio, Philips) Superb – excellent in the outer movements,
partly because of the rich base, partly because – well the commitment
is palpable. . This really shows you what great music it is. But oh
boy, does he slow down the andante. Maybe you could get used to it,
but right now it feels not quite right to me . |
