Unfortunately, it took the withdrawal of the Republican candidate to do it.
Even the DemocRAT victory over the independent conservative candidate (NOT
even the OFFICIAL Republican candidate) is only by a few percentage points.
It's a SAD SAD night to be a DemocRAT, isn't it?

election as a VICTORY FOR THE PEOPLE and utterly ignoring every
loss. It's like Obama/McCain only the amusement is for a different
