i guess i was still surprised to read anything anti-agassi in the
english press. which correspondents do you rate? i think the late john
parsons was quite well regarded. john roberts? stephen bierley? maybe
i will check out their articles. i don't have a very high opinion of
many of the tv commentators (e.g. john lloyd, chris bailey - both
pretty bad in my opinion), but i think our printed press has a bit
more quality, even if i need to look for it.
John Parsons was very highly rated, John Roberts pretty good as well.
Stephen Bierley is not really a tennis writer is he, more general
sports with some tennis stuff? Barry Flatman seems fairly average. Who
else is there?
Simon Barnes writes some good articles in his role as Chief Sports
Writer for the Times, but they don't appear very often, usually only
after big matches or unusual happenings (he's written a bit today
about the Agassi
storyhttp://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/columnists/simon_barnes/articl...)
Mark Petchey is by far the best British TV commentator around (except
when he is doing Andy Murray matches). I actually like John Lloyd - he
knows the game and makes good points. Don't like Chris Bailey at all
(thankfully he has moved to Australia). Barry Cowan gets more annoying
all the time. Annabel Croft - aargh!I I used to hate Greg Rusedski,
but now he's actually quite entertaining, only because he seems
determined to argue with everyone, sometimes in quite a childish
fashion.
