Quote from Gerard Majola, CEO Cricket South Africa:
"It's wonderful to see a South African team winning an international
knock-out competition by holding their nerve. Winning becomes a habit, and
this bodes well for major tournaments in the future."
Riiiight. The occasion? The Hong Kong Sixes played over the weekend, in
which South Africa's heros Davy Jacobs, David Wiese, Farhaan Berhardien,
Loots Bosman, Rory Kleinveldt, Ryan Bailey and Werner Coetsee beat the
mighty Hong Kong in the final. Not heard of these blokes? Never mind -
they're bound to take the world by storm any day now.

To put things into perspective, they lost twice to HK in the group
stage and in the Cup Round Robin Stage. The Cup Round Robin
Stage, required HK to score 100 of 25 balls (A challenge even by sixes
standards) and HK pulled it off, from the last ball.Thankfully for SA
they had already qualified for the finals by then. |

Ready for the big time?
Hong Kong's Irfan Ahmed won the Ben Hollioake Trophy, awarded to the
tournament's leading player. "It was great to play in this
competition," said Irfan. "We did well and I've been looking forward
to this for quite a while. Almost everything went well. I want to go
into the IPL and this was a good chance for me to show what I can do
if I'm given a bigger opportunity."
