Saturday night, lots of kids coming to the door. We've had years when
busses let off buckets of kids to trick r treat with a plethora of
kids inbetween, but it's not like that this year. It's a steady
stream of kids in groups of 2-4-6 with parents, but not masses of kids
with chaperones. One dad was dressed as the Gingerbread Man so I
forced a piece of candy on him just for being cool. We ran out of
candy and turned off the light after 20068058. I felt like a
cheapskate doling out candy one to one, but that's the only way I
could make it last. This is the time when older kids who shouldn't be
trick-r-treating without little ones in tow are out anyway, so I'm not
too sad.

Here's a picture of my family. Son is King of the Fairies. He speaks
like a mobster, wears a crown and combat boots, carries a hatchet and
smokes a cigar. DIL is Bride of Dracula and Grandson (sorry you can't
see him) is a Lego piece. All costumes are pieced together/home made.

Very cute! Halloween was a bust, worse than ever. We had 4 kids,
then at the last minute someone dropped off 4 more.

I'm set for candy bars for a year.

sf,

I like your lego Grandson best!

Once in awhile, a little evolution is a good thing! <VBG>

Nice pic. At my house, I haven't had tricker treaters since the first 2
years when my next door neighbor's kids were still young. My house isn't
really in a good spot for kids to wander the streets, and this is the first
year I didn't even buy candy. Usually there are no kids, and I bring the
candy to work.

It looks like they're set for a fun evening. We had 63 kids before I
turned off the light at nine. I got chintzy with the candy about eight
forty five 'cause I was running out. Two pieces till then. One piece
after but you could pick.

It's been years since we had any number of kids come to our
neighbourhood. I used to get 70 -75 kids, that dwindled to only 13
last year and last night only had one at 7 pm. I shut down at 8. Now
I have 3 dozen 5" homemade oatmeal chocolate chip pumpkin spice
cookies to give to family and friends...at least they'll be
happy...lol...Sharon in Canada

I don't know about Canada but a lot of parents in the U.S. won't let
kids accept (keep) homemade anything when they go trick or treating. I
remember a long time ago hearing about razor blades inserted into apples
(probably an urban legend) and needles put into home-baked goods
(probably also an urban legend). I do remember hearing news reports on
television (this was over a decate ago, when I still lived in west TN)
of local hospitals setting up x-ray stations so their childrens' candy
could be checked for foreign objects. What a sad state of affairs :(

Jill

Here's an on point news article regarding the poison/razor blades in the
hand-outs.

Three cheers for you for homemade costumes!

I totally believe in them. All you need is a little imagination.
