Here are 11 different tenors singing the first high Bb in Celeste
Aida. Nice comparisons!

For lovers of operatic morbidia there was a TAP LP with forty tenors (!)
from the sublime to the awful singing "di quella pira" - I have it and it is
um.. unique!!!!  Wagner fan- Hide quoted text -

The sound you hear is that of Evelyn running away into the hills.....

I remember Paul "Binkifleet" mentioning this LP, years ago...

Where are you, Paul? We need you here!

I can't watch youtube on my computer (and I'm not a particular fan of
tenors anyway) but Celeste Aida with eleven of then has GOT to be better
than the tape with ten of them screaming "Di quella pira"! A one-time
musicologist friend forced a roomful of guests to suffer through that
one as captive audience. (He did that sort of thing a lot - one reason
he's a FORMER friend.)

Corelli wins - he's got it all;
Caruso, Bergonzi, Gigli place - one is as great as the others, for
wonderfully different reasons;
Tucker (in this performance - in others he would walk away with the
prize),shows.

Domingo and Vickers sound like they might explode (as does Solti's brass -
actually Domingo sounds like he might pop), the rest OK, but Galouzine is a
mess.
