Indeed, why not just stand near the feeders? At least that way you
won't look like a complete doofus.

Another Photoshop job like the image posted here a while back. This one is
easier to spot though because of the way the lighting emanates from the bird
and fades, easily done in Photoshop. Very good "art" for sure but not
realistic.

If it looks too good to be true, it probably is. Many of these images have
had significant image processing work done to them. Drake

I have no idea who she is.

I meant to ask--in the slide show there is a blue bird that looks like a
Steller's Jay. Is it, and do they occur anywhere but the higher
altitudes of the Sierra Nevada?

I should look that up my self, huh?

[Did. Misspelled "Steller's" (fixed). Answer appears to be "yes",
Rockies to way up North. Peterson's doesn't say anything about
altitude, but I never saw one below 2 or 3 thousand feet, I don't think.
Certainly not below 1K or so--only Scrub Jays at lower altitudes. No
Scrub Jays higher either, come to think of it.]

But I'm still not sure what tha was in the picture.

Pretty sure Steller's--Other pictures look like NorthWest -- Seattle?
Vancouver? Southeast (Alaska)?

I'd be surprised if there was no color balancing and such.

But the "poses" are very consistent with what I have seen.

What is your problem, anyway? I've had hummingbirds perch on my fingers,
sometimes two birds at a time. If you don't believe me, it won't ruin my
day. If you're just continuing your rant about color correction, please
take it to your favorite conspiracy forum where someone might care.

As for Photoshop hacks, you might find this one amusing:

I quite agree as I have had them do that also. What I was trying to point
out is that there's a good chance that the initial image the OP posted was
probably a fake. The bird, the finger, and the background all taken at
separate times and combined into one. The "spotlight" effect in that image
is obviously one telltale sign of doctoring, to me anyway.

No, color correction, sharpening, contrast.... these are normal. Complete
image replacement, cloning, etc is digital and images should then be art and
not realism.
