His decline this seaosn has been shocking; the guy is a shell of his
former self. His decision making has been bad and he just seems to
have lost his confidence. He better pull his socks up quick because
reputations mean nothing to Signore Capello.

Maybe he and Carragher have been smoking the same stuff ?

Up until yesterday you could say the same for Carragher.

And people have been saying it.

Quote:
Ferdinand's back problems are to blame for his decline.

His problems are that this is a pre-WC season. Any long term injuries
or dips in form could cost him dear, especially with an unemotional
coach like Capello. Carragher's problems OTOH are more related to his
club place, where he has two fit and very strong defenders to compete
with. Ferdinand doesn't have that problem at the club level.

This is not the same Ferdinand of 2002. I think injuries have slowed
him. It is bad news for him and England.

I think Rio borderline England just like Owen. He made some huge
blunders and Capello has a decision to make.

He's been in decline for at least a couple of seasons.

Absolute and utter bigoted crap. The season before last, when his team
won the ECL he was roundly acknowledged to be the best defender in
Europe. Last season by those lofty standards was low key, although he
still managed to help his team win the EPL and reach the ECL final.
This makes his poor form this season all the more surprising.

How is holding the opinion that Ferdinand has been in decline for a
couple of years a form of bigotry? Please explain.

And I really don't care what nincompoops think, whether it be roundly
or any other shape.

Please explain why you think he has been in decline for the past two
seasons, leaving aside the past 3 months where clearly he has
struggled.

He is struggling with a back injury, it's hard to be world class when
you are playing hurt.

I agree with you about 90 odd% of the way. If this is the case should
he be playing?

Players decline, it's the law of the jungle. Causes are a whole of
host things from physical problems to motivation and attitude, but
usually a combination of all those factors.

It's not a form of bigotry, however it is a sign of someone who has no
idea of what he is talking about. He is a World Class defender that
has been having problems getting back to fitness the last 90 days

blah blah blah...

He's been in decline for about 500 days, so there goes your theory.

Well he hasn't been playing that often has he? I guess it's one of
those type injuries that you have to try and play through. It's
definitely affected his pace and that's what Rio depends on.
He hasn't been out of sorts 2 seasons, whoever wrote that is just
plan insane, he's been off this season.

And your theory of "500 days" is flawed and as I said above you are a
bigot when it comes anything remotely associated with Man U and
England, oh I know you give the odd concession to Rooney. I recall
your comments about Lampard being "basically useless".

Don't try so hard when the results are so poor. I said Lampard is
useless in a certain position, not that he is useless per se. I know
strawman arguments are your forte but their really getting tiresome.

As to other England players, when they're good I only have good things
to say about them. I recognise Terry as, still, a top defender.
Ferdinand, on the other hand, is poor now, and has gotten
progressively worse since at least the last part of the 08 season,
IMO. I has observed it at the time and made comment at the beginning
of last season ( I don't remember where I posted it, but it was likely
on another forum, not this one) to effect that he is no longer
reliable.

Everything subsequent that has happened subsequent to that has
reinforced that belief.
