Yesterday was an indication that the people have started blaming the
Democrats for the bad economic times. The blame Bush story has run
its course and if there's no significant job growth in the next 12
months, the Democrats are in trouble in 2010. This is especially true
because a majority of Americas don't think that health care and cap
and tax are as important as job growth and getting the deficit under
control. Obama's priorities are not in line with the public
priorities.
Obama's RCP average approval rating is at an all time low of 50.6% and
his disapproval rating is at an all time high of 44.4%. Obama had the
worst third quarter of any President in the post-WW2 era and he's down
another 2.3% since then. |

That's one way of looking at it. But in a district that hasn't elected
a democrat since the Civil War, a Democrat won.
And that was after the Conservative Party candidate got a huge bunch of
help from all the right wing yakkers, the ultra rights like Palin also
stepped in.
So at best, yesterday was a mixed bag. |

Forcing them to accept all applicants without an effective individual
mandate is hardly a bailout.

spare me the hyperbole, it is barely nine months into this Congress' term.
Would you like to see the numbers?
Here's what I could find through 2008:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/e8/Cloture_Voting%2C_U.S._Senate%2C_1947_to_2008.jpg
I'm still compiling numbers for 2009, but it's ugly.
It sounds like your biggest problem is with the Senate's rules. Complain
to your State's Senators and get them to change the rules.
I'm not complaining at all. I'm merely making the point that
the GOP has chosen this route. That's their right. It just
comes with certain consequences. That's all.

I came up with a revolutionary new idea the other day. You
guys will probably like it.
In any election, a candidate must win at least 50% of the
vote pool of ALL REGISTERED VOTERS to assume office.
Otherwise, the next person to serve in that office is
chosen at random from the list of registered voters in
that state or district. It would be like jury duty,
except it would be Congress duty, or legislature duty,
or whatever.
