Looks like a fun gun for a few hundred dollars. I've seen a few good
reviews (G&A, GunTests..etc) but would like some input from anyone that
has any hands on experience with one

Thanks

I have the 9mm, accurate, fun, easy, light, kids can shoot it, wife can
shoot it. For the price, not bad.

Ugly, reminds me of those rifles in Planet of the apes, but for the price
you can not beat them. They just work and work very well. proprietary mags,
which sucks, but in time as many of these that are selling I would expect
someone like Mec-Gar to come out with a better after market one. They make
some nice after market stocks for them and they are easy to put a nice cheap
optical sight on. For what they sell for you will be very happy.

Buy the Kel-Tec one instead
They use Glock mags or S&W mags depending on the model
They can be folded up for storage

I have 2 of the KT's and they are the only reason I don't have a HP, BUT.
There is a couple down sides. 1 is if you are like me, getting eye's that
don't work like they used to, there is no "easy" way to add an optical sight
to a Sub2000.
2 in most parts of the country they are VERY hard to find. KT just does not
seem to make enough of them. There is always some on the auction sites, but
you can expect to pay about as much as 2 High Points. I do love my S2K's.
The .40 cal. one has made my last house shotgun a safe queen, but I doubt
they are going to dent the sales of the HP carbines.
BTW the one BIG advantage to the model that takes S&W mags, is it will also
take Sig and Berretta mags. It's just a matter of changing the catch and the
same rifle will use all 3 mags.

Thanks for the responses. The KT looks good but part of the appeal of
the HP is that I can get a new one for $200. I've seen after market 15
and 30 rd mags for the 9mm but can't find anything but the 10 rd for the
40. Anybody seen any others?

I bought a few of the 15 rd. 9mm mags and they both cause jamming and
are useless. Stick with the factory 10 rounders (just buy extras).
