Aggy must make a return to the Indian team now against the Aussies.
Dhobi and Cheeka(nose twitcher) stop playing regional games.

Mumabi set a target of 191 for Baroda after being put in to bat first,
riding high on Paul Valthathy’s 41-ball 70. Baroda started their chase
on a brisk note, as openers Irshad Sindhi and Azar Bilakhia did not
waste time in piling up runs early. Ajit Agarkar drew first blood for
Mumbai, uprooting Azar’s (21) stumps in the fourth over when the
scoreboard read 38.

It did not affect the run-rate as the new man in, Jacob Martin,
continued to hammer the ball in all directions. Disaster struck in the
seventh over when Agarkar’s first delivery saw Mumabi skipper Wasim
Jaffer’s throw hit the wickets at the striker’s end, running out
Irshad. On the very next ball, Jacob handed a simple catch to I
Abdulla and Baroda were reduced to 51 for 3.

Baroda captain Yusuf Pathan, who was dropped from the Indian ODI team
last week, came in and immediately made his intentions clear -
hammering the next bowler, Zaheer Khan for four boundaries off
consecutive deliveries. But Zaheer had the last laugh, dismissing him
on the fifth ball, caught at long on.

From there on, Baroda lost wickets at regular intervals, and could
manage only 158 runs in 20 overs.

Earlier, Mumbai’s Paul Valthathy was on fire as he hit 11 boundaries
and two sixes in his knock to score a 45-ball 70. Wasim Jaffer (37)
and Rohit Sharma (47) also contributed handsomely as Mumbai piled up
190 for the loss of nine wickets.

Coach Amre said this wicket was perfect for a t20 match and that his
team made the most of it. He praised the perfect blend of youngsters
and senior players for this victory.

Baroda’s manager Umang Narula felt that too much shouldn’t be read
into the first match and that his team will bounce back in the rest of
the encounters.

Mumbai play Gujarat in their second league match at the same venue on
Wednesday.
