* Yomo Toro • El Topo: Antonio Caban Vale •
* Zon del Barrio & Danza Fiesta w/a Carnaval Finale

It's not officially christmas until you hear the strains
of Fania legend
Yomo Toro's 10 stringed cuatro. The funky jibaro & King of
the Cuatro is
back at (no spam) Lehman College to celebrate the holidays with his
friends. Direct
from Puerto Rico, Yomo will be joined by the legendary folklorist,
Antonio Cabán Vale better known as "El Topo."

Considered the Bob Dylan of Puerto Rican folk, El Topo brings his
nostalgic blend of musical poetry capped by what is considered the
unofficial anthem of P.R. "Verde Luz" (Green Light), one of Cabán
Vale's
most popular compositions of the danza genre.Verde Luz has been
interpreted by the late Argentine singer Ginamaría Hidalgo, and
Puerto
Rican singers Chucho Avellanet, Roy Brown, Lucecita Benitez, Tony
Croatto, Lou Briel, Nano Cabrera, Carmen Nydia Velázquez, Jose
Feliciano, Silverio Perez, and Dagmar.

The artists will be backed by the eclectic sounds of Zon del Barrio,
an
outfit steeped in nostalgia while exploding into the future that will
bring the music from the streets of Latin New York to the academic
stage.
Cutting edge w/an unorthodox instrumentation, Zon del Barrio's
musicians are
dynamic individuals that will rock the stage at (no spam) Lehman.

The entire show is choreographed by Gilda Rivera Pantoja, a gifted
dancer and director of the theatrical dance troupe: Danza Fiesta
featuring 20 dancers. Enriched by rhythms such as aguilnaldos,
danzas, plenas, seis and bombas,
the show also features the Salsa navideña that will blow up Yomo's set
before a Carnaval finale replete with costumed
characters make their arrival alongside the three Magi Kings.

Zon del Barrio

Zon del Barrio
Music from the Streets of Latin N.Y.

Zon del Barrio is a play on the words "son" found throughout the
Spanish speaking
Caribbean and the various barrio "zones" where Latinos struggle, work
and play just as hard. Zon del Barrio
is a hip, young band that is turning heads incorporating and fusing
unorthodox instrumentation
and diverse Latin music genres into their "Salsa Dura" dance mix.

Cutting edge in their mix of guarachas, mambos, merengues, plenas,
bombas and boogaloos with
elements of jazz, rock & R&B, Zon del Barrio gets everyone in the
"zone" from their performances in
the South of France to the South Bronx, Zon del Barrio rocks.
