I need to fix a tear in sleeve of my suit and purchased some neo. glue
from the dive shop. was thinking it would be best to use a patch of
neoprene but not sure if the neoprene piece I have will work since it
has nylon on it both sides, ( it's a beer bottle insulator that I cut
open ) . does it have to be bare beoprene ? My suit is smooth skin,
so it would be smooth skin against nylon. The glue is Mcnett. It
says industrial strength on the can, but I'm not sure it's what the
manufacturer use. Mcnett makes aquaseal, which i read here is not
the best thing to use on neo. I'm guessing it's just a modified
version of the aquaseal that comes in a tube. It comes in black or
clear. I could get the "black magic" used by the mfg. online, but I
was hoping to have it repaired for next weekend. I don't if it's the
same stuff as Oniell Superbond mentined on some posts here, but it
sounds like the same thing. Does anyone know of any surf shops that
carry the Superbond ? If the neo patch needs to be free of nylon
where could I find that , preferably not online ? thanks in
advance....

Hello there,
I've used 'Black Witch' neoprene cement to repair tears in the knee of
a wetsuit.
I actually cut the torn and worn square out with a knife and glued in
a piece of the same size.
The neoprene glue actually bonds it together so the repair is very
good.
I smeared extra glue over the fabric bits you describe and it's fine.
I've also repaired many small tears by gluing the edges together with
the same stuff.
Hope this helps! |

Thanks for the advice, I did find a shop that carries the
superbond and plan to fix it in the same manner you did.
