ICC denies that Taufel made an apology.

Not that umpires need to make an apology ... but in the past they have
at times and batsmen showing the bat is not that uncommon even when
they have not touched the ball and Akmal certainly didn't go overboard
so reporting him is well ... not that wise if they did.

As long as there is consistency with these.

In my opinion the current standard of showing no dissent is a little
out there. Would it have been ok if Akmal would have querried, "How
did I get out?"

First eliminate wrong decisions then ask for "No Dissent"!

The important thing to note here is that Umar was found not guilty.

Personally I saw nothing more than understandable disappointment. In
ICC-speak this was explained as:

"Umar's reaction at being dismissed at such a crucial phase of the innings
in the all-important match of a global tournament was more of a
disappointment than anything else. Having been in these situations in the
past, I understand how a player reacts or can express himself but I don't
think there was anything other than disappointment in this incident"
[Javagal Srinath, Match Referee]

Which can be translated into English thus:

"The batsman was understandably pissed off at being given out lbw despite
having hit the cover off the ball".
