I cringe every time I see a Pakistan player drop a sitter or get out
playing a loose shot. Today Younus dropped a dolly off Elliot and
Afridi got out to a very un-Afridi like shot. Even the commentator was
baffled at why Afridi would consider playing a dab to 3rd man when he
is so good down the ground. |

This is why they and the Indians never fly with Cronje Air

Younus was still getting over a fractured finger, theres questions being
asked as to whether he was fit enough to play.
But, its cricket ... sometimes people drop the easiest of catches. |

It's part of cricket. Sometimes you hold hardest of catches or drop
easiest. Besides, Pakistan did much better than other "favorites" who
were supposed to win the trophy. |

Right. However, since there are so many interested in these conspiracy
theories here are some they can consider.
1. Choking is SA's cover for match fixing. How else do you explain the
favorite and home team losing out before the semis and to England?
2. India must have fixed to lose the match against Pakistan. How else
can one explain that a team that had trouble crossing two hundred in
its other games totalled over three hundred scoring heavily on a shot
that did not work against the other teams.
3. Simon Taufel fixed the match against New Zealand because he was on
Australia's payroll. Only one partnership had developed for Pakistan
per game. By getting rid of the one man who was going strong in that
game Taufel ensured that Australia would face a weakend New Zealand
team.
4. Depending on who you ask whether India's probability went up or
down after the no result against Australia definitely either Australia
or India arranged for the artificial clouds to pour down rain.
5. Tendulkar does not run away, he match fixes.
6. Ponting was biting his nails off because he had sent money over to
Younis to lose and was thinking that Younis had kept the money but was
not going to go through with the deal and lose.
7. Australia always match fixes to win. This is the only reason they
have won so many world cups.
8. India's early loss was a conpiration to achieve the failure of the
Champion's trophy, a tournament it thinks is useless and cuts into its
profits.
9. WI fixed every game. Their board fixed the team to help with the
fixing.
10. How could England lose by nine wickets in the semis. Surely that
6-1 loss was a grand scheme to make everyone believe they were
extremely bad when they were not. |

As for the Younis Khan dropped catch, it was on a par with the catch Vettori
dropped against Sri Lanka. Did anyone mention match fixing then?
Andrew
The only difference being is that Pakistan is notorious for match-
fixing allegations. Obviously I am not the only one who thinks so:

Par for the course for McCrapum (TM).
So is bad fielding for Pakistan. McCullum ended up dropping a catch as
well:)

Actually point # 1 may make a conspiracy theorist drool because of the
historical baggage that SA carry of choking and of course because of
Cronje
Well there is enough to go around for all if this kind of judgements
are to be made. India had Jadeja and Azhar, with suspicion falling on
others as well. The man who self-admittedly remained quiet against
Cronje is the current Indian coach. Probably, though not sure, India
retains or until very recently retained more players from that era
than most other teams. Not to mention that every significant bookie is
Indian.
ICC had objections about Malik getting a PCB position but the second
most implicated man in the Pakistani setup is the current England spin
coach.
Waugh and Warne had their own run ins with bookies which were hushed
up by CA until they came out.
Many other SAfricans were implicated.
SA also probably ran the "cleanest" investigation followed by
Pakistan.

If this is the standard you have of even suspecting match fixing then
you probably think Taufel was in it with them
snip whatever
Taufel doesn't have any form champ.

I just don't understand how Taufel's eyesight/judgment works
sometimes. He gives Lara out caught behind when he missed the ball by
a foot (literally; certainly the single worst umpiring decision in the
post-cretaceous period, but possibly from before that even) and now
Akmal when he hit the cover off the ball. What happened to the
referral system, again? |
