Maybe if he could have moved Chicago to South America, it would have
had a chance.

It was a mistake putting the prestige of the Presidency in the hands
of a bunch of corrupt IOC bureaucrats. These guys couldn't turn down
the chance to thumb their noses at the US President. He probably hurt
more that helped.

Actually, if you want to find the real villains in the piece, it is the
USOC. They have managed to piss off just about every other IOC country
with their behavior and attitude in recent years. This was simply what
goes around, coming around.

I think the first mistake was thinking that North America, which has
probably hosted more Olympics than any other region, would have a
chance against Rio, even with its obvious problems but in a region
that has never had an Olympics.

Bingo. Rio deserves it. Obama should have never fought a battle that he
had no chance in winning.

But you know he would have been blamed had he not gone.

It's Clinton's fault anyway.

It's obvious that the IOC is racist.

Are you kidding?
You ever been to Rio? I've been there 10 times over the years.
My business partners (locals) would never let me get 5 steps from my hotel
lobby without them escorting me. Even on weekends, I was never allowed to
leave my hotel for lunch without them with me.
You've got the beach, then 1.5 blocks inland from there. Thats where you are
safe. Worse thing you can do is take a taxi. They'll take you to a street
corner where you'll get rolled. The taxi driver gets a commission.

I liked the idea of South America being host. Perhaps there is a better
city in that continent.
