She grew up in Georgia and (as of 1989, anyway) lives in Chicago.
Her only other book, to date, that I'm sure of is "Martin Luther King
and the Civil Rights Movement," 1986.
About "The Legend of Africania" (illustrated by Herbert Temple):
"An allegorical tale of Africa's struggle against the ravishment of
its people and country."
From "Something About the Author":
"My work as a children's librarian led me into a fascination with folk
and fairy tales. When I found that they held the interest and
attention of children of all ages, I began to study the tales for
their form and meaning. I found that they could be interpreted in many
different ways, but that most of them carry very clear instructions
for helping people realize their potential.
"This prompted me to write 'The Legend of Africania,' using the form
and the symbols of the traditional fairy tale. It is the story of the
individual's quest for freedom and self-fulfillment."
