WELCOME back to Usenet! You're on Giganews, at least.

I see you - on news.eternal-September.org.

I too check this NG regularly but have seen little activity lately. I'm
hoping to see more now that the seasons are upon us.

I'm to pick up a new H&R Ultra 20 Ga. Slug Gun tomorrow. I'm planning on
putting one of the new slug gun scopes on it. Burris has a two new slug gun
scopes - 3-9X40 & 3.5-10X50 - and I'm having a hard time choosing.

I like the lower power scopes for slug guns in general, though Hornady and
Burris both say that 200 yards is doable with the BDC scopes and the sabot
slugs, especially from a rifle pretending to be a shotgun (which is really
what the new rifled slug guns are).

I know that generally the larger objective lens will gather more light which
can be helpful in the failing hours at the end of the day AND I don't see
3.5 being significantly different from 3.0. I'm just having a hard time
wrapping my head around a 50MM shot gun scope - I guess I just need to get
in the 21st Century.

Any comments or suggestions?

There is life at news.so.centurytel.net. Good to see this group going again.
