One of my sister's former classmates, good friend and excellent
musician was murdered last week by a student.
Sue thinks her friend carried, but not at school, as that's illegal.
Good thing carrying knives to school is also illegal.

Ask Klebold and Harris.
Not within 500 feet, or there is a sentencing enhancement.
Assholes want to keep people from protecting themselves.
When seconds count, the cops are only minutes away. |

No idea. The "kid" was in and out of school for the last couple
years, but was not the teacher's student. Sue's friend was a music
teacher for "special ed" (or whatever) students.

Dominoe's test.

Actually, EMS and fire are very quick to respond. I had a
non-emergency ambulance need (sprained my back very, very seriously)
and the ambulance was there in under 5 minutes.

Hardly.
If you allow teachers to carry their guns to school, you're in effect
"deputizing" the teachers as armed peace officers even though they
have no training as such.
You really want to allow untrained grade-school teachers to make life-
or-death decisions about when and how to safely use their firearms in
a potentially deadly setting? What happens to the kids killed by
stray bullets? What happens to the teacher who overreacts and shoots
a kid when there was no real justification for use of deadly force?
What happens with the guns that the kids, who have otherwise passed
through metal detectors in many areas, are able to disarm from the
teacher or steal out out of a locker or desk?
Teachers are trained and paid to teach. Police are trained and paid
to keep the peace, including the proper use of deadly force when
necessary. We should keep it that way. |

That's not what he said.
Of course not, but only because he didn't think it through. It's my
job to point out the logical consequences of his poorly conjectured
rants.
Obviously, if you allow teachers to carry in school, you're "allowing
untrained grade-school teachers to make life-or-death decisions about
when and how to safely use their firearms in a potentially deadly
setting."
My sixth-grade teacher got so infuriated with me once, he threw a
chair at me. I'm sure glad he didn't have a gun. |

Never is.
I guess he was able to figure out that he is one of the assholes I was
referring to.
Hardly.
But I was defending whoever you called an asshole. After all, anyone
you deem an asshole is probably a swell guy. |

I got run off the road by a guy yakking on the cell phone, my choices were
either head on or ditch, so I chose ditch.
I called a friend for a ride to the ER, and the cops got witness statements,
and then came to the hospital for my side of the story.
I had burns on my nose from the airbag pattern, tore ligaments in my back
and had dislocated one elbow, but I was in the ER within 5 minutes. |

Yeah. If I don't have my Bluetooth on, the phone doesn't get
answered. No messing around. I also try to avoid drinking
(non-alcoholic) drinks while I'm driving. (I DO NOT DUI) Too many
people out there who are too challanged to drive and have a kid in the
back seat.

Man, the back is the one I really would hate getting. Have they given
you any specific therapy? Like "20 minutes lying down on ice, 20
minutes lying down on heat, 20 minutes walking around".
A dislocated elbow is a nasty one. But once it's reset and
immobilized, there shouldn't be any real issues. "Shouldn't"

Dude, if YOU can have one in the front or back seat, I want to read
about it. Probably in NOTW.
