Due to the popularity of the "Survivor" shows, Texas is planning to
do one entitled, "Survivor, Texas-Style." The contestants will all
start in Dallas , then drive to Waco, Austin, San Antonio, over to
Houston, then down to Brownsville. They will then proceed up to Del
Rio , El Paso, Midland, Odessa, Lubbock, and Amarillo. From there they
will go on to Abilene, Fort Worth, and, finally, back to Dallas.
Each will be driving a pink Volvo with bumper stickers that read:
"I Love the Dixie Chicks", "Boycott Beef", "I Voted for Obama",
"George Strait Sucks", "Hillary in 2012", and "I'm here to confiscate
your guns."
The first one to make it back to Dallas alive wins. |

Grumman will probably have the lot of them stopped at the city limits of
Dallas with Claymore mines. |

Surely you're not implying that Texans are so un-American that they
wouldn't respect the freedom of speech of the Volvo drivers?
And why do you have Austin on the list? |

not sure but just recently south of Austin, two young boys were shot and
killed braking into a house. A third was seriously wounded, and a
fourth was unhurt and arrested.
Makes you kind of wonder what those boys thought was in the house that
was worth their lives. Well two of them will never attempt a break in
again. Hopefully the other two have learn a valuable lesson and can
contemplate their futures will sitting in a prison cell for the next 20
or so years. |

Nawh, not worth the drive up there... I'll wait till they get to Houston...
Speaking of which... I had a chance to take the AR that I just built out to
the sand pit / quarry that is kind of near my house and sight it in...
Surprisingly, I didn't really see any changes that I needed to make to
it... It turned out to be a lot more accurate than I probably was
considerin the fact that I was just firing it from a sitting position while
in the bed of my pickup...

Good point... They would be relatively safe once they got inside of Austin,
but they might find it a bit interesting *getting* there... Austin is
basically our liberal "reservation"... We're pretty much exiled all of them
to there... Of course, a Texas liberal is probably more conservative than a
California conservative...

Was about to pipe in with that. Something about NASCAR. Stig's American
cousin was interesting, been chomping just a few many cheese burgers.
Best stig was the African one, stig in a loincloth.
I'm a fan of top gear, speaking of which, it's tonight. Only show that I
watch every week.
Oz stig is a bit tame, Youtube search Stig in a HO.
For the best clip I've seen on there it would be "Yager Performance XY-GTHO
Bathurst 08" the soundtrack sucks but the HO is awesome.
Nothing liked a bombed HO to warm the blood of an Ausie male.

The rest is just car related or related to the show "Top Gear"
The HO referred to was as shown in this clip.

Watch that one and tell me it wasn't a good drive.
To those who don't know, an XY GT-HO was a 4 door sedan produced in
Australia in 1971. At the time it was the fastest 4 door sedan in the world
and only 300 were produced. The number made was to allow this limited run
vehicle to participate in the touring car racing series of the time. The
video is of a race held at Australia's premier road racing circuit at
Bathurst, at which the XY ran 1st 2nd and 3rd when originally manufacturer.
The GT featured is competing in a class for cars of that era, the old
charger held him up for a while and an extra lap would have been
interesting.

Sold new for about $8,000 price for a mint condition one now 1/2 to 3/4
million.
My dad purchased a wrecked one in about 73 after it had rolled and fixed it.
Drove it for a year then sold it.
His current plaything is a 69 Stang rag top with a 302w Edelbrock Heads
etc......

The 1966 Belvedere 4-door was factory produced with a 426 solid lifter
Hemi.
It would swallow that car whole, and spit the plate out.

It used to be that once you got "south of the river" things got
better. But now they're building yuppie condos on South Congress,
which is now reffered to as SoCo. But Oak Hill is still "Guns & No
Roses". In my neighborhood, at least half the cars have an NRA Lifer
sticker on them.
And if they take 35 to SA, they have to drive through Buda and past
Cabella's.

Have a neighbor with a Daytona. Not the candy assed 80s POS but the
winged demon that NASCAR outlawed. Also a HemiCuda that he's
rebuilding.
BEST OF ALL, he's got one of Jungle Jim's 71 Camaros. We fired it up
last weekend, shortly after sunset. I love the smell of nitro and
zoomies at night. Ran it for about a minute. Had it in the garage
with the door shut by the time the cops got there. The older guy just
smiled and said "smells nice" and they suggested we take our beers
inside or in the backyard.
Did I say I love the smell of nitro and zoomies at night?

No doubt.
Fastest car I ever rode in was an Austin Healy 3000 with a built 364 Buick
nailhead with a Dynaflow 2 speed automatic. |
