Hi
I did have the joy of my clamp on boom but unfortunetly it broke and i
have found some brand new tie on boom heads that i will have to put on
the alluminium boom. But i wouldnt have a clue how to tie them on? If
their are different types of tie on boom heads i can send pictures to
email addresses. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks |

Bruce: you REALLY don't want to go there, particularly if you are
using Carbon masts, which you can crush real easy with an overzealous
tie-on boom. What size booms do you need? Where are you located? I
have a couple of older clamp-ons in my recycle pile that you'd be
welcome to

Bruce: I agree with Eva. Stay with clamp-on. New or used. If you
must buy, pay attention to boom angles vs head angle, and how it is
fitted to your existing boom. Steve |

Someone needs to find a great new use for tie on booms. They keep
turning up at swap meets and yard sales (though the local shop no
longer allows them to be brought into a swapmeet.)
Don't use a tie-on boom. Don't do it!

if the grip looks good, i use them as replacement
rods for the wooden ones to hang clothes in the closet.
works if you have fairly short sections where you can
use the straighter part of the boom.

Hey Eva That sounds Great!! my booms are fine i have 4 but 2 really
good ones that have good grips etc and are worth keeping. So all i
really need is the boom head and then i can just pop rivet it back on
my boom. I am in morisset but would be happy to buy them and pay for
postage. please email me gonesurfing.bruce at (no spam) gmail.com. Thanks |

Hi All
You can also make a beach chair out of booms... and a broken mast.
Push the mast down into the sand. Clamp the boom to the mast (or in
reverse order...) with the clew end on the sand. Tie the harness lines
together and have a seat... even an umbrella in the mast... of course,
there is probably much room for improvement to the concept...
