FAI has received the following Class G (Parachuting) World record claim:

Claim number : 15521
Sub-class :G-2 (Group jumps)
Category: General
Group : Performance / Team records
Type of record : G-2-e1 : Freeflying, largest head-down formation
Course/location : Chicago, IL (USA)
Performance : 108 parachutists
Team: International 108 head-down
Date :31.07.2009
Current record : 69 parachutists (03.08.2007 - Crew, International)

been received and checked, the exact figures will be established and the
record ratified (if appropriate). |

All touching? Do they slow down like large belly flier
formations?

I watched it on TV....... I thought a touch was supposed to be stable and
held for X number of seconds??
The last flier in took his slot, and the formation immediately started to
break away.
But.......... whatever......... good on 'em.
Personally, I like the freefall. I like to spend as much time as possible
in freefall. Acting like a bullet/spear is all well and good for a couple
of jumps to 'get it out of your system', but it's not for me. It
dramatically shortens freefall time.
Next it'll be... "Let's see how many points we can turn, head down, while
we have rockets attached to our feet."
