The 500, Inc.'s ARTFEST welcomes dogs for first time in 40-year history
http://www.ntxe-news.com/artman/publish/article_54249.shtml
Dallas, Texas - Tails are wagging throughout the Metroplex as The
500, Inc. has announced that dogs are now invited to attend ARTFEST
for the first time in its 40-year history.
Over Memorial Weekend, May 22 - 24, dogs are welcome to stroll the
sidewalks of Fair Park and view over 200 artists, live bands,
cultural performances and the ARTFEST for Kids Area in Fair Park.
The 500, Inc. will provide water bowls throughout the event. Dog
admission is $1 each.
Art is the star of the show at ARTFEST, and several artists turn to
pets and animals for inspiration. For instance, don't take Carole
Fleischman's Fried Cats! literally. She is a ceramic sculpture
artist whose current works focus on the Mighty, Mystical, Marvelous
Cat. (http://www.friedcats.com ) Couples Wayne and Jan Steppy of
Flower Mound (http://www.imagesbysteppy.com ) and Gary and Mary
Curtis of Sunnyvale (http://www.gmcurtisphoto.com ) have traveled the
world photographing undomesticated animals like lions, tigers and
bears (oh my!). Andrea John loves painting horses and all pets in
realistic style (http://www.andysequineart.com ) and stop by the
booth of Peggy and Donald Pimpler for dog sculptures created from
recycled parts (http://www.endangeredspeciesart.com )
DOGGIE DO'S AND DON'TS AT ARTFEST
DO bring your dog!
DO keep your dog on a leash (in accordance to Dallas City ordinance).
DO bring a plastic bag to clean up after your dog. WikiHow.com
offers several methods to simplify this unpleasant task at
http://www.wikihow.com/Pick-Up-Dog-Poop
DON'T leave your dog at the SPCA to dogsit.
DON'T try to sell you dog as a piece of art (even if you consider him
a masterpiece).
DON'T let your dog lift his leg near artwork.
The 500, Inc.'s 40th Annual ARTFEST will be held at Fair Park (3809
Grand Avenue) over Memorial Weekend, May 22 - 24. The Wine Stroll
Preview Party, $20 per person, is on Friday, May 22 from 6pm - 9pm.
The main event will be held from 10am - 7pm on Saturday, May 23 and
from 10am - 6pm on Sunday, May 24.
General admission is $6 per day for adults; children under 6 are
free. Tickets will be available on event days at the festival.

Thumb stores beginning May 2.
