Hi Folks,
During the Christmas holidays last year we boarded our 11 year old
female "torti" DSH at a local veterinarian's office, along with our
younger male.
We've done this several times, but both cats came back with diarrhea
this time and seemed very unhappy for a few days. We took them to a
different veterinarian to be treated for that.
Our female cat was extremely selective about the wet foods she would eat
after that experience. Of the several varieties we used to buy, she will
only eat two kinds. Sometimes those are hard to find. We've tried some
new varieties on her but "no dice".
She was never a fussy eater before, and is still *very* interested in
food. She starts begging an hour early sometimes, and seems excited all
the way up until she takes her sniff and walks away.
She's not going to starve, because she still eats her dry food. We've
considered going to just that, but both cats like wet food the best and
she really likes the ones she'll eat. In case anyone's interested,
those are fancy feast whitefish and salmon (as well as generic clones).
I was hoping she'd get over this after a while, and we've occasionally
tried slipping in a variety she liked last year. It hasn't worked so far.
Has anyone dealt with a cat that does this? I was trying to think of
something that might have traumatized her into refusing several food
varieties during her stay at the kennel. Must have been pretty bad,
whatever it was.
Thanks,
