Hi all,
After 30 years of working at the University of California Berkeley,
I've up and accepted a job at the University of Hawai'i. I start
there on July 1. My office will be on the Manoa campus.
Yikes!!!!! The last time I moved was in 1994, and it was about 5
miles door to door.
All this has actually significantly diminished my time on the water,
and I don't expect I'll have a lot of time to play when I get to
Hawai'i. My employers will undoubtedly expect me to do quite a bit of
work...
Still and all I should be able to get out on the water sometimes. Can
anyone give me any advice? Where to live, play, things to watch out
for? Any windsurfing groups or buddies?
Thanks,
Cliff |

Check out a recent thread on Oahu wavesailing for some general info.
Where to live depends on what you're after. I'd probably stay at
faculty housing at first. Easy access to work and subsidized (I
think)
I live pretty close to the U now. Used to live in Kailua. Sailed a
lot more when I did mostly because it was so easy to get to my
preferred launch. Living on town side ,I spend a lot less time in the
car, but I tend to surf or stand-up a lot more than sail.
