I've been playing Tanburi Cemil Bey's tune "Cecen kizi" (Chechen Girl)
over the last couple of days. There are several YouTubes of various
Turkish performers doing it - the woman playing classic kemanca is my
favourite.
The score (on neyforum.biz, look under huseyni) says it's a folk dance.
Cemil was not exactly a folkie so this is a bit unexpected, and I can't
find any evidence on the web of anybody dancing to it. Is there a
specific dance for it? Or do you just do anything that fits that
rhythm? (Nim sofyan, i.e. much like a polka).
