Check out this Dead Can Dance track.

Particularly starting at the 5:30 point.

A nod to the Beatles track, or is just that WYWY was such a pastiche in
the first place that both DCD and Harrison are drawing from the same
source?

I'd say influence.

Me too. Too strong a similarity to get by anybody familiar with
WYWY... and what contemporary composer isn't? I also found the track
reminiscent (going by memory, I don't own the album) of some of the
music PG did for the "Last Temptation of Christ".

Excellent!

That's the second track in so many days that you've brought to my
attention. Loved the song by She and Him also.

You got strange tatste.

Phew. You are really determined to indulge a vengeful snit, aren't you?

Actually, I am not a Dead Can Dance fan. I much prefer the Cocteau Twins
or This Mortal Coil, if I'm in that mood. But this doesn't stop me from
being curious about the group and wanting to confirm my indifference,
because otherwise I would be just some posturing dolt patting himself on
the back for being superficially hateful toward unfamiliar sounds. No
doubt, this mentality is something which you strictly avoid too.

BTW: Considering the mainstream Hollywood films which have musical input
from Dead Can Dance's Lisa Gerrard ("Gladiator," "The Insider,"
"Ali"...), it seems that her style is not considered so strange by
people who can "handle" more music beyond top-selling pop/rockers of the
'60s and '70s.

PS If Lookingglass doesn't like Gerrard's work already, he should Look
into it.

I rarely listen to 60/70 or other pop.
I just like rattling your cage and watch you squirm.

Actually, the similarity starts around the 4:30 point. I was listening
to the track in the background the first time, and the similarity didn't
reach out and immediately grab my attention.

Yeah, I noticed that. Also around 4:54.

Melodically, it's almost a direct quote...taken at a snail's pace.

I have AION and SERPENT'S EGG in my collection. I enjoyed them when they
were fresh, but prefer to go to the source of their inspiration these days.
