Two women from Kyle were camping at Pace Bend Park this weekend with
their horses, and during the night the horses were attacked by some
wild animals. There is some controversy as to what happened, the park
ranger are trying to play it down and said that the horses kicked each
other. The vet that treated the horses said it was definately a large
cat that caused the injuries to the horses. The owners are really
shaken up about the whole thing . . . . there are bobcats at the park
according to the park rangers, and there are been mountain lion
sightings reported in Bastrop, Travis and Williamson County last year.
There was also one trapped accidentally in a coyote snare in Kerr
County. |

What state, please?
These parks are in the Austin, Texas, area.

This is really scary stuff to me. Mountain lions are attacking
hikers, bicyclists, mostly in California,
A hiker apparently faked a mountain lion attack in Palo Alto's Foothills
park last week.

I'm about to move from the Foothills of Colorado to Austin. I wouldn't
let these incidents scare you, just be aware these magnificent animals
are out there and educate yourself on how to act when confronted by
one. Best thing to do, go with someone else when you go into these
animals' habitat. Black bears and Mtn. lions can usually easily be
scared off by humans making noise, throwing rocks or just holding your
jacket up and making your silhouette appear larger than it actually is. |

I'm not scared, just passing on news. More recently 2 mountain lions
were spotted in a park not far from the faked mountain lion attack.
This more recent report apparently has more credible witnesses.
