Would you like to Wreck Dive but you do not have a dive buddy?

Need someone to show you the ropes?

We are a group of experienced divers who charter a dive boat every Sunday.
We are looking for divers to join our group. We will help you along and show
you the ropes. This is a great opportunity to gain dive experience with a
safe level headed group of men and women. The charter offers a discount from
the typical rates charged by the dive boats. We have a B-B-Q each day with
plenty of food. The boat is exceptionally well staffed with crew. We are
rebreather friendly as well a single tank w/ pony bottle. So whatever your
experience and gear preference you will feel safe and comfortable. Let's go
dive!

It's amazing,

I post an opportunity to dive and the response is a flame. The pest
doesn't even read the entire post. Another diver posts a dive report
on a NJ Wreck and his responses are flames. Do you all get your air
fills online?

Perhaps, but were they smart enough to post in plain text in a text
newsgroup? Yeah, they were... You weren't though...

http://rec.scuba.googlepages.com/welcome

Nice try... Better luck next time...

You may be experienced divers, but your not experienced posters. You failed
to mention what part of the world you dive in. Unless you're planning on
doing some extensive traveling, or think what you have to offer is so
special that others will, you might want to narrow your area down a bit.

From the phone number, it appears to be Long Island/NY/NJ shore wrecks.

Well, I just checked a full header from one of my previous
posts. Thank goodness it was ASCII! The trouble with a lot
of tools these days is that the tool designers think that
insert alternative> is *so* much better than ASCII, we've
just *got* to use it instead. And then the place to change
the setting is usually buried about five layers deep in menus.

While non-ASCII postings are a pain, given the realities of
today's USENET, I'm not sure a major flame is in order here.

I just noticed it since it came up looking strange when I started to do a
reply... Figured I might as well raz him a bit for that while I'm at it...
It wasn't a *major* flame... Maybe a flicker at most... <grin>

Damn, Grummy, John C's been around for about 8 years or so, not to
mention some of us didn't even notice the text......same one here who
recognized a long time poster, where he was talking about, and another's
misspellings.

Place reminds me of work in a lot of ways.......

I probably wouldn't have noticed his HTML posting if he hadn't got all bent
out of shape about Lee's myopic shortcomings... Whether he had been around
for long or not, he probably still needed a proper 'welcome'... It's the
neighborly thing to do, ya' know...

Hell, he's a NYer anyway... Telling him to fuck off would just be the same
as saying "hello"... <grin>

One of the advantages perhaps of Forte "Agent." Everything comes up
as "text," whether I like it or not.... Sometimes that reeks havoc
with some replies or "quoted lines" that appear as one long string
when Agent sometimes doesn't recognize "soft returns" until one
"unquotes" the line. I end up usually having to format the quoted text
by inserting hard returns.

But it's still bullet proof when it comes to "attachments," Viri and
the like...

I've tried various newsreaders and it just kind of depends upon the mood
I'm in at the time on which newsreader I might be using... I've been
testing out quite a few and don't necessarily uninstall them after I'm
through with my testing... I kept hoping to find a newsreader that had all
the filtering capabilities that I wanted... Pan was good because it would
allow me to filter on substrings in the Message-ID field... None of them
would allow for filtering in the NNTP-Posting-Host field though... Finally
figured out a way that would work with any of the newsreaders... I run
nfilter as a proxy server and set rules under it... Let's me filter on
anything in the headers... Seems to work pretty good...

Just my $.02 - which is difficult since Oz phased out the
1 and 2 cent coins about 10 years ago. (Or was it longer?)

Dude, if you think that was a flame, you better hang on to your wallet
and your testicles around here.

Which boat is it?
