... Listening to Kraus on the Sirius Werther....thinking of how some
singers..especially some tenors who never fell into that "Pippo"
thing.....have sung for so long..never pushed into wrong repertory..
(Carreras also guilty)...so Kraus, Schipa, Gedda,Bergonzi,Tucker...are
examples of singers who knew what to sing and when.....Tucker for
example was in the film of the Toscanini Aida..but WAITED many years
to sing it on stage...Kraus never sang Pucini on stage..Schipa did not
try Lohengrin...you know what I mean.
How many times have we said, "Whatever happened to..............?" |
