Someone mentioned this afternoon that Drake safes were of very good quality and mentioned
two or three folks locally who had one. He didn't give many details as to WHY they were
so good, but I thought I'd check this group for some opinions on the Drake vs. some other
safes.
If you have a Drake safe or are familiar with them through a friend, etc. please fill us
in on the advantages / disadvantages of the Drake.
Thanks,
Al

Like the other guy said. Look at the locking arrangements and the
safe's combination lock. Also hinges. You really need to compare
other makes. Never heard of them here, but then Browning is what the
big boxes push. The other guy in town that handled safes is out of
business. They are VERY bulky for the amount of profit that can be
made on them, floor space is just too expensive here to carry an
extensive line. Most I see are closet units that can handle maybe 6-8
long guns. If you need more, you usually end up ordering it for drop-
shipment. Zanotti has a modular unit that is put together on-site,
one way of beating the incredible bulk.
