Hi - My cat, Mitzi, a female, ten years old, has been missing for five
days. She's vulnerable as she's on medication for seizures, also a
nervous cat who rarely left the house, except to walk around a small
garden. On Saturday evening she was frightened by seeing a neighbour's
large dog nearby and ran, but we're not sure in which direction. We're
in a town, mostly houses, gardens, and roadway, but she'd never been
near a road as our house is in a small mews. I'm trying to cling on to
some hope and would like to her from anyone who has had a similar set
of circumstances - should I accept the inevitable and presume she
hasn't survived, or should I go on searching. I've sent out flyers and
put her picture in the local post office, and of course been out, also
my husband, many times.

If it was my cat, I would never stop searching. Five days is not that
long. Good luck.

Thank you for this heartening reply. It's Sunday morning and still no
sign - I switch from optimism to pessimism and back again all the
time. But your words brought comfort.

Hi - It's now three weeks since Mitzi went missing, but there's been a
development. Her picture was spotted in a shop window and we learned
she'd been seen in the courtyard of a house, very secluded, behind
fairly high walls. A photograph was posted and it's definitely Mitzi.
She was feeding from a bowl we provided after first hearing. A trap
from the Cat's Protection was supplied and set up the following day.
She had had six previous visits, the longest gap between visits being
five days. But since setting up the trap on May 6th, the day following
her last visit (she was alarmed by the owner of the house taking her
photograph and jumped the wall very fast), there have been no
sightings at all. I'm wondering if she'll ever return. There have been
watches kept large parts of the day, her bowls, and other reminders of
home, plus a plank to help her negotiate the wall, but I'm now
beginning to lose hope. There's been a heat wave, which could have
caused her to seriously dehydrate. What do other readers of this
thread think of the situation?

Is this behavior of cats who got into antifreeze or some chemical ?

I hope not.

I guess leave water bowls around and hope she can reach them if thirsty.
