I was just wondering the same thing... It would be nice to see some
discussion. Here's a topic that I'd like to know more on:

Who are the best jazz musicians from the past ten years...?

I know the earlier stuff somewhat, but have trouble finding new stuff. Maybe
Adonis Rose?

What you may wish to do is, download the Jazz Radio Toolbar from

http://www.jazz-toolbar.com/

When your browser opens; on the right of the toolbar; is a RSS button
with the latest topics on Jazz musicians. Rather interesting I find.

Enjoy!

Hi Joe,

I like you have lost touch with the Jazz scene. I have just retired from
work and am going to try to catch up on the Jazz scene. I will try to find
out more about Adonis Rose. If you would like to keep in touch that will be
great.

It all depends on your particular tastes. For singers, you might try Sophie Milman, Holly Cole, Molly Johnson,
Michael Buble, Stacy Kent. Pink Martini.

For horns, try P.J. Perry. For piano, try Keith Jarrett.

A good on-line jazz station can be found at www.jazz.fm.

Mr. Watkin,
I also find myself behind on the current Jazz scene. I've had some
health prpblems and hav'ent kept current. I used to be a professional
Jazz drummer and after 16 years of playing, finely relized playing Jazz
is like swiming up stream . Most people don't like, much less understand
the art form. Even club dates are hard to book because of rock groups
getting the knod. Most of my idols have passed (Miles, Coltrain, Basie,
Kenton, and just recentley Oscear Peterson).
Would appreciate any suggestions you might have..
Thanks, Ron King (Jazzron@webbTV.net)

Not to repeat the same biggest names, I'd give e try to Henry Threadgill,
Geri Allen, Billy Bang (I'm just now under the spell of his "Vietnam The
Aftermath" concert and cd), Dave Liebman, Rufus Reid, Wadada Leo Smith,
James Emery, Dave Douglas (and -at last- whole John Zorn's Masada), Misha
Mengelberg (Who's Bridge, Four In One) and his OCP crew ...
