Hi folks, a pair of my gouramis have started breeding (I think they are a
type of colisa, but I'm not sure).... They ahve attached eggs on the sides
ofhte tank, and on some plants nad other stuff..
Iwas wondering if anyone knows how long the eggs should take ot hatch? I've
done a lot of fish embryology, and I know that egg hatch time can be a few
days to a few months.... Just ahven't been able to find any real detail on
gourami.....
Alos, any advice (other than the normal) as to trick to keep the fry happy
once they hatch? will they tend to hide in the surface plants, ground
plants, little spces between rocks, etc?
thanks

I doubt it is your gouramis - they make a bubble nest and put the eggs into
the bubbles - like the Siamese fighters do.... what else is in the tank?

yeah, they are definitely "gouramis" (at least according to the LFS). From
what I've managed to figure out phylogenteically, they are probably some
sort of colisa, but the entire group is polyphyletic.... They are definietly
not gourami sp....
there is a sort of half-hearted attempt at a bubble nest, which is being
gaurded, but the eggs placed on the other surfaces are being gaurded too....
